Filming Day: Letter Scene

In order to make it clear that our protagonist is joining the army, we decided to film a scene where she receives her acceptance letter.

We first filmed a shot of the letter falling through the letterbox,

Followed by a close up shot of the letter on the floor (Kelly made a really authentic-looking letter!)

Because our video is from the perspective of our protagonist, we wanted the camera to be placed from the same point of view. This canted angle close up of the letter allows the viewer to see the letter being opened and read as the protagonist does it.

This shot is vital for the narrative as it highlights the very beginning of her journey into the army- which is the main foundation of our music video.
