Editing: Tracking and precision

One of the hardest parts of the editing process has definitely been trying to get the shots to line up perfectly with the beat. Conforming to Andrew Goodwin's theory, we have to make a link between the sound and the visuals- make editing to the beat absolutely vital. With the amount of shots we had, this was a very long process. However, by using the precision editor and cutting milliseconds of footage, we were able to achieve our goal.

As well as the editing, our actual footage also needed tweaking. The first shot of our video is a tracking shot of me running into frame along to the beat of the song (thanks to our editing skills rather than my running ones). Because we filmed this on the boot of a moving car with no tripod, the shots turned out slightly shakier than we wanted them.

By using the shot stabiliser in iMovie we were able to make the shot look much smoother- yay! We played around with the percentages and found that 84% was just right. Thanks to this really great tool the beginning of our video now looks a lot more polished.
