Filming (1)

We went to our location! Filming went well despite the absolutely freezing weather. Here's a vlog we filmed in the rain, apologies for the shakiness, we were a bit numb:

Here are some stills from our first location shoot:

Our narrative includes the rough background of the protagonist. This deserted bench fits perfectly with our narrative and was also a work-out aid. By placing it in the centre of the frame, the audience's focus is pulled into it and then not distracted or thrown off by the entering of the protagonist on the right. Using the rule of thirds, the protagonist occupies the right side of the grid whilst still remaining on the same horizontal lines as the bench in focus.
In order to capture this shot, a lot of effort was required from Kelly (our camerawoman) who had to climb up onto a bridge (with our help) in order to get it. We really like how this wide shot captures the entire landscape from a high angle. In the animated footage, the protagonist runs out of shot whilst leaves blow over into the canal- something totally unplanned but very effective.
The mise-en-scene of this shot is similar to the landscape shots at the beginning of our video- making this a really great location to shoot. We filmed me running across this path from across the canal- giving us another perspective of this particular shot.
